Laurie-Ann Stuart

Gardening is in my soul, as I love to watch things grow. It is a passion that connects me to nature in a meaningful way. I can see the big picture of what a garden can be.

As a child I remember working in the gardens with my Grandmother. She could turn a blade of grass into a Rosebush. I still use many of her techniques to this day.

As time went on other passions grew within me as I perused a career in Journalism that brought me to my home in Barrie but I would turn back to those roots when I started a part time job at Botanix in the early 2000’s. From there a company grew and my heart has been full.

Over the years I have been filling my brain as well with courses and programs at Guelph University and Humber College achieving my Horticultural Technician certification, an Award for Softscaping and meeting many likeminded gardeners along the way. 

I am a member of the Barrie Garden Club sitting on the Executive as the Speaker Co-ordinator.

Landscape Ontario has played an huge part of my companies success. Offering more courses, mentorship, product knowledge and business expertise. I have been a board member of the Georgian Lakelands Chapter, eventually taking the role of President through the pandemic. I currently sit on the Garden Maintenance sector of the Association.

My absolute favourite thing to do is walk and talk with someone in their gardens. Gardening has allowed me to enjoy the beauty of Mother Nature in ways I never thought possible.
